Event Speakers!

Curious about the type of content that you'll receive when you attend the 25th Anniversary Conference? Here are a few of our extraordinary speakers:

Step inside the artist's studio - and the artist's creative mind!  Debbie Harter, the UK-based illustrator of some of the bestselling Barefoot Books of all time, will take you on a fascinating behind-the-scenes tour of the creation of Barefoot favorites like Animal BoogiePort Side Pirates!Dinosaur Rap and the Bear books.

Wafa Tarnowska awarded author, translator and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) consultant, will inspire you with a truly unique session. Wafa, author of Barefoot best seller The Arabian Nights, will reveal the story behind her personal mission to serve as a bridge of peace and understanding between the Middle East and the West. She will also share valuable tips for revolutionizing your Barefoot Books business from her new book Work Smart with Heart -- giving us a sneak peek before it's published!

As Barefoot Books Ambassadors, you recognize the importance of exposing children to other cultures. But how do you define global citizenship so that anyone, even if they’ve never left the country, can embrace this idea? How might we respond to a perceived backlash against global citizenship in a spirit of inclusion and kindness? In this session, Homa will shine a light on the power that stories and other media have to enhance our shared humanity -- and to guide children to become global citizens who can thrive in the 21st Century.

Join Stefanie in an interactive workshop to explore how Barefoot's books support children's developing literacy. Stefanie Paige Wieder, M.S.Ed, is Senior Director of Product at Barefoot Books and a child development expert with over 20 years of experience working with children and families and developing children's products.

Senior Editors Kate DePalma and Lisa Rosinsky will share the stories behind the Barefoot stories. Kate has helped develop dozens of picture books, including The Barefoot Book of Children and My Big Barefoot Book of Wonderful Words. Lisa was selected as the 2016-17 Boston Public Library Writer in Residence; her debut young adult novel comes out in October 2017, and she’s currently working on her first picture book for Barefoot. Join them and get an exclusive sneak peek into the Autumn / Winter 2017-18 catalog and new products in progress for Spring 2018 and beyond!
