Diversity in Publishing Editorial Internship
In response to the lack of diverse voices in the publishing industry, Barefoot Books has established a Diversity in Publishing Editorial Internship. This internship is open to anyone who identifies as a person of colorcolour, including those of African/African American, Asian/Pacific Islander, Latin American, Middle Eastern, or Native American/Indigenous descent. This is a part-time, paid position that will run from January – April 2021 (15 weeks, 14 hours per week). Students and recent graduates will be considered. Application deadline: December 9, 2020.
The Sales Team is looking for outgoing, detail-oriented and curious individuals who are interested in learning about the business of publishing. This internship spans all sales channels, including US and international markets, as well as subsidiary and foreign language rights licensing. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organizational skills, experience with Microsoft Office suite, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Barefoot Books’ Design Team is looking for enthusiastic, hard-working, detail-oriented individuals with great organization skills, a strong design eye, and a fun personality. Reporting to the Design Director and collaborating with the product, marketing, and sales teams, the Design Intern will gain experience in marketing design and editorial design, while being exposed to art direction and how design plays a role in children's publishing. This is a part-time, paid position that will run every spring, summer and fallautumn semester. Start and end dates are flexible. Students and recent graduates will be considered.
Barefoot Books’ Marketing Team is looking for a Digital & Social Media Intern to help maintain and grow its social media channels, particularly Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest. The Digital & Social Media Intern will ideally be well-versed in all relevant social media, writing and proofreading. Attention to detail, multi-tasking abilities, a love of storytelling and excellent writing skills are a must. This is a part-time, unpaid position that will run every spring, summer and fall semester. Start and end dates are flexible. Students and recent graduates will be considered.
