Barefoot Books is looking for someone with a passion for creating groundbreaking children’s books. Working closely with the editorial and design teams, the Assistant Editor role will help with product development for both new and reissued books, as well as digital content, from acquisition to publication and beyond. The role will support our Senior Editors and Editorial Director in editing and art-directing our full list of picture books and non-book products, attending regular editorial meetings and performing various administrative tasks involved in the editorial and production process. In response to the lack of diverse voices in the publishing industry, Barefoot Books offers a Diversity in Publishing Editorial Internship. Diversity in Publishing Editorial Internship description
Barefoot Books' Sales Team is looking for a Sales Intern to work closely with the team to support all points of the selling cycle. Interns will help with seasonal mailings, customer communication, trade show preparation, and more. The Sales Intern will have exposure to high-level planning meetings, product presentations, and see how sales works with other teams. Must have a passion for sharing books with others, no publishing experience required. This is a part-time, unpaid position that will run every Spring, Summer, and Fall semester. Barefoot Books’ Design Team is looking for enthusiastic, hard-working, detail-oriented individuals with great organization skills, a strong design eye, and a fun personality. Reporting to the Design Director and collaborating with the product, marketing, and sales teams, the Design Intern will gain experience in marketing design and editorial design, while being exposed to art direction and how design plays a role in children's publishing. Barefoot Books’ Marketing Team is looking for a Social Media Intern to help maintain and grow its social media channels, particularly Instagram. Reporting to the Digital Producer, the Social Media Intern will ideally be well-versed in all relevant social media. Attention to detail, multi-tasking abilities, a love of storytelling, and excellent writing skills are a must. Basic video editing and Photoshop experience a plus.
