About Me

Unbelievably, I have been involved professionally in the publishing industry for more than ten years; most of that time has been spent working with academic texts. Over the past few years, I have become intimately acquainted with children’s books, carefully selecting stories to read to and with my son Bryce. In November 2007 I was introduced to a small children’s book publisher, Barefoot Books. The production quality of these books, CDs, and educational toys is excellent, and the focus on diversity, inclusiveness, and imagination really resonates with me as a parent. I became so excited about and interested in these titles that I decided to partner with this company and become a Stallholder, now an Ambassador. This is something I’m doing in my spare time for multiple reasons.
First and foremost, for the past three years, Bryce has attended the Jean Weingarten Peninsula Oral School for the Deaf (JWPOSD), a non-public auditory/oral school. At this school he has flourished. His vocabulary has grown exponentially; every day he comes up with something new to tell us and to talk about, and he listens and understands more with every conversation. He has also made great friends, as have my husband Eric and I with the parents of his schoolmates. JWPOSD has offered us so many positive experiences, and I really want to give something back. My goal for 2009 was to raise $5,000 for JWPOSD and I'm happy to say that succeeded!
