About Me

I first heard about Barefoot Books just after my son was born, and I was sold on them straight away.  Such vibrant pictures and great stories, they have been a pleasure to read.  I'm also impressed by the variety of cultures covered in the range of books.

Five years on, my son adores books and loves to read.  I think that Barefoot Books has helped to develop this love, capturing his imagination at an early age.

As parents, we know the importance of inspiring children and getting them interested in reading as soon as possible.   I love the fact that Barefoot books feature children from all over the world, with differing experiences, helping children understand the world they are growing up in.

Barefoot Books was founded by mothers, with values similar to my own, and those values shine through the books.  There are stories about cultures, and from around the world; stories harking back to my own childhood, and that of my mother's; and stories about looking after each other and looking after our world.

The books, songs and activities are inspiring and will fire the imagination of everyone who reads them.  We love the songs that accompany many of the books and we can often be found singing and dancing our way around the living room!

If you'd like to bring Barefoot into your life you can browse the range here on the website, or you can contact me to book a party at your home for you and your friends to look at the books first hand (the children can come too!).  I regularly exhibit at shows in the East Midlands (a list of upcoming events is on my home page www.barefootshop.co.uk) and am happy to receive invitations for other events.  I'm also available for storytelling sessions, book fairs, fundraising events and more.  If you'd like to bring Barefoot Books to your school, nursery or children's group, I'm here to help and can offer you a variety of ways of achieving this.  Please use the "contact me" button to the left.
