It's that time of year again when we invite you to join us at the Annual Connecticut CARES Conference sponsored by CFDCAN - The Connecticut Family Day Care Associations Network, Inc. an association of associations. This is a wonderful opportunity for all childcare providers - Family, Group, and Center based early childhood professionals and parents to gain personal and professional growth in their roles as caregivers and teachers. There is a wide selection of presentations to accommodate varying interests and skill levels. Our Marketplace, sponsored by the Valley Childcare Providers Association, provides excellent shopping and program information. Today's Child Care Association is collecting great raffle prizes and giveaways. Friday includes a keynote and reception. Saturday includes two general and three workshop sessions. Come and learn, relax, have fun, meet new people, and network. There is so much packed into the short time frame of the conference. It's exhausting, exhilarating, renewing. It's an experience you don't want to miss.
The Childhood Conversations Conference started in 2007 to provide parents with the same access to professional development and speakers that educators, child advocates, social service professionals have at annual conferences. The first conference was held in April and brought together parents and professionals. The conference was sponsored by the Windsor Family Resource Centers, Windsor Early Childhood Council the involved parents from Windsor and the surrounding communites. In our first year the conference had captured the vision of giving parents a day of pampering and access to cutting edge knowledge through impactful keynote speakers and workshops. Throughout the seven years since the first conference our partnerships have grown and we use the evaluations to drive the planning process for the next year. Our annual conference now draws between 200 and 250 people from 1/3 of Connecticut and participants from as far as Kentucky. In seven years conference partners have grown from the original three to sixteen non-profit and public agencies spanning multiple disciplines. We have also expanded our audience to include professionals in the early childhood, social work, and education sectors while at the same time maintaining our parent base. In 2009 the conference began offering CEU’s and CEC’s to participants. Each year we offer between 15 and 24 workshops, a morning keynote speaker, networking opportunities at lunch, and many vendors.
