Motherbridge of Love
Two cultures, two mothers, one daughter
Jun-28-2009A lovely poignant poem written as an explanation given to an adoptive daughter about where she belongs. Beautifully illustrated to show that the chinese birth mother has an unseen presence in the child's life and influences alongside the adoptive mother. Motherbridge of Love shows the mixture of two cultures that raises the child.
The Beeman
A+ for The Beeman
Jun-25-2009This is a wonderful story which shows the relationship of a child and his Grandad. Throughout the story we learn about bee keeping and how we get honey. At the end of the book is a factual explanation of bees and beekeeping and the most delicious honey muffin recipe. Like many Barefoot Books this is more than a story and encourages children to learn more about the world around them. This book has been used by the local school in their lessons about bees and bugs. The children loved reading it before going to a honey farm. One of my favourite Barefoot Books.
Magic Hoofbeats
Magic Bedtimes...
Jun-25-2009With two horse mad daughters this is perfect for bedtime. As soon as they saw the book the girls have loved it. The traditional stories from around the world are fantastic and allow them to see stories & cultures that they do not know. With different reading abilities this is perfect,my elder, dyslexic, daughter loves to read alongside the CD and is now reading alone. The fact that it holds such interest for her makes her more willing to read. My younger daughter loves to be read the stories and to listen to the CD during her rare quiet times. From North America to India my daughters are transported on magic dreams after these bedtime stories with their gorgeous illustrations
