The Prince's Bedtime
Firm Favourite
28 Jun 2009This book is not just about the prince (so it's great for girls too), it's about the entertainments the King and Queen put on in order to get their little rascal to sleep at night! It's hugely entertaining, funny and extremely well written with great illustrations. But more than that, it has a great rhythm and rhyme all the way through which will appeal to all children - it's also particularly good at the Year 1 age/stage when children are concentrating on rhyme in their learning at school - which words rhyme, same / different word patterns etc. A great read and highly recommended - a great ending too - what Barefoot is all about!
The Tear Thief
Firm Favourite
28 Jun 2009In this beautifully illustrated tale, the fairy-like Tear Thief captures the tears of crying children everywhere, and scatters their tears as gem-stones on the moon. The story in itself if captivating, but also shows the reader the huge range of their emotions - from tears of sadness to frustration, and even crocodile tears. We have read this book nightly (well at least 6 times a week) for months on end, and I still enjoy reading it as much as the first time. Popular with schools too, for emotional literacy.
