Magic Train Ride

Jul-8-2009As a music and language school for children, MaE-Club recommends this book for use in the classroom, and is ideal for small children to play along to, with whistles and triangles for example. The repetitive text lends itself to early English education and the visuals reinforce the vocabulary without the need for translation. MaE-Club recommends this book however, ONLY without the accompanying Sing Along CD. Kids will always be captivated by the train theme and wonderful illustrations, however most adults can´t bear a repeat hearing of this tuneless song. It must be said that Magic Train Ride stands alone as a disappointment in the Barefoot Books Sing Along range.

Ideal for introducing English animal and baby animal vocabulary and perfect for producing on stage at Kindergarten festival or end of year concert. For adults, the music will bring up more than a few goosebumps, and children will love the diversity of tempo, instrumental effects and silly animal noises - the perfect combination of music and language education while having loads of fun! If it was possible, we at MaE-Club would give this book 6 stars!
Dreamland CD

Jul-8-2009As a music and language school for children, MaE-Club highly recommends Putumayo´s "Dreamland" CD. This CD is hauntingly beautiful, ideal for use in the classroom for attentive listening, for transition time, or simply to calm things down a bit! A wonderful example of the different musical genres and languages of the world. The CD also features numerous ethnic and percussion instruments that small children can play along with, such as rainmakers, hand drums, chimes, triangles, recorders and woodblocks for example. "Dreamland" is also the most beautiful gift for parents of newborns - they will still be playing this CD when the kids have left home!
