The Animal Boogie
You can Boogie all night long!
Jul-9-2009I love this book - and the CD too! Animal Boogie not only is entertaining, but it builds vocabulary and rhythm skills! My kids love to sing and dance to this book. At first, we didn't use the CD. We made up our own tune, and of course it would change each time we read the book. We would stand and dance as we went along. Then, we tired out the CD and decided that its' tune was far better than ours and we adopted it for all of our subsequent reads. The only complaint I have is that we can't read this book at bedtime any more. It just gets us going and giggling that we are more awake than when we began! The illustrations are so colorful and fun they truely enhance the read. I would recommend Animal Boogie to any toddler through grade schooler!
Herb, The Vegetarian Dragon
Standing tall!
Jul-9-2009I first read this book with my 7 year old Son and 5 year old Daughter. They were not sure what to make of it as they said, I only know 1 Vegetarian, and He isn't a Dragon and how do we know what Dragons eat anyway? Well, we loved it. Not only is Herb a strong Dragon with excellent convictions, but he has humor and wisdom. The story line allows for so much discussion. From the simple questions of what it means to be a Vegetarian to what is means to stand up for something that you believe in -even when the rest of the crowd is going in a different direction. My Son even brought up a point about bullying that he had begun learning about in school and that launched a very long and detailed discussion of what it means to be bullied, how do you support a friend or even someone you don't know and how can you hold on to what you believe in. I was so impressed! The illustrations are bright, detailed and seem to come to life right off the page. Herb is a character that you love from the moment you begin the book and you grow to feel for as the story continues. I have read this book numerous times since that first time with my kids. Each time I see something different. We even used the pages of the books to play 'eye spy' since there is so much detail in the illustrations every time we look at the pages we see something new! I would recommend Herb the Vegetarian Dragon to Vegetarians and meat eaters alike!
