My favorite book in the entire Barefoot Collection is The Boy Who Grew Flowers! In Jr. and Sr. High School, I wore a brace for scoliosis, so I appreciate the social values taught in this wonderful story. Getting to know people for who they really are and not just for their outward appearance is a valuable lesson to be learned by both children and adults.
