Tales of Mystery and Magic
So fun!
Sep-4-2011Tales of Mystery and Magic has become my son's favorite book! The stories are fun to read any time of the year! One story is mildly spooky and my son loves to read it aloud to others. We love the variety of stories in this book. Some are spooky, some are clever, all are fun!
The Gift
Lovely story!
Oct-10-2010I just read this to my 7 yr old. What an incredibly touching story! My son was able to follow and understand what was happening in the story. He loved hearing about how the little grew up and had a long, happy life. My son was delighted to make the connection between the young girl and the old woman. He even had tears in his eyes. This is a fabulous book to teach about the joy and tenderness of the life cycle. It gently touches upon the subject of death in a loving, positive (non scary) way. I highly recommend this book! I'll even be donating a copy of it to my son's school and our church (RE Director.)
Kids' Kitchen
Fabulous for 'Picky' Eaters!
Aug-31-2009This oversized recipe card deck is amazing. No, it truly is. The deck contains 40 sturdy 6?x8? cards containing yummy vegetarian recipes. You can easily add meat if you so choose. The deck also includes food facts and info about vitamins/minerals. It comes neatly contained in a thick, sturdy box. My son, who has had an eating/feeding issue for 5 yrs, was immediately attracted to these colorful cards. He looked through the recipes and chose a couple that wanted to make right away. I was skeptical but we gathered the ingredients and began. The instructions are easy to understand and my son was able to do most of the work himself. Once the food was ready, it was time to do the taste test. Normally, my son will refuse to try any new foods so I wasn’t really expecting him to eat the masterpiece he just made. Imagine my surprise when he took a bite! Not only one bite, he actually ate a full serving! Score! I was so excited, I did a little happy dance right there and then. Yes, I can honestly highly recommend Kids’ Kitchen! We already have our next planned recipe up on the fridge. My son claims he now wants to be a chef!
Celtic Dreamland CD
Must Have Music
Jul-11-2009Celtic Dreamland is a beautiful and relaxing cd for both kids and adults. A definite Must Have for bedtime. Also great to bring on vacations and long car trips.
Port Side Pirates!
Catchy tune!
Jun-29-2009Colorful illustrations paired with a fun cd make this book a Must Have! Kids love to dance to the cd. Great to bring along on road trips and vacations! My son loves to copy the British accent from the cd.
The Barefoot Book of Blessings
Many Faiths
Jun-25-2009It's so nice to find a Blessings book that includes many different faiths/spiritualities. Includes blessings from many paths including: Native American; Pagan; Christian; Jewish; Celtic; and more! Truly a lovely book.
Arthur of Albion
Stunning illustrations!
Jun-24-2009Arthur of Albion will delight both kids and adults. Gorgeous illustrations mix with an in depth look at King Arthur. This book is geared more towards older children (and adults). A fun introduction to historical fiction.
We're Sailing Down the Nile
Like Egyptian Mummies and Pyramids?
Jun-23-2009This is the book for those who love all things Egyptian! A colorful blend of modern and ancient Egypt. This book will give you a glimpse of life in Egypt. You'll learn about Egyptian mythology as well as history. Great fun!
Emily's Tiger
High Spirited Child?
Jun-23-2009This entertaining book teaches children that they can choose their mood and how it's much more fun to be happy. Watch as Emily goes from grumpy to grinning with joy. I highly recommend this book for both girls and boys!
Bear at Home
Cozy Bedtime Book
Jun-23-2009A bedtime favorite! Bear invites you into his bright and cozy home. The colors are vibrant and kids will love looking for Bear's cat on each page. Even though my son is now 6 yrs old, this is still one of his favorite Barefoot books (along with Bear About Town).
The Gigantic Turnip
Get Ready to Laugh!
Jun-23-2009This book not only helps with counting, but delivers a message of working together to get something done. Share some laughs while reading how everyone on the farm (including the animals) help to harvest one hefty turnip. Kids will love reciting what comes next (great memory tool). Also great for acting out with a group of children!
The Boy Who Grew Flowers
We're all a little bit different
Jun-23-2009Fabulous story that gently teaches that not only is it ok to be different, you can use that difference in a positive way. Rink is a boy like any other... Except that every full moon, lovely flowers sprout from his body. Although Rink loves flowers, he's embarrassed about his difference and what other kids would think if they knew his secret. He's a shy boy until the day he makes a new friend. A friend who has something very special in common. I highly recommend this book to anyone that has a child with special needs or one who doesn't quite fit in. It's also a great book for all teachers to share with their class.
