Trust Your Intuition
Jun-25-2009This is my favorite illustrator and in this book, Nicoletta Ceccoli does it again with her fabulous depictions of the characters. I see this story as focusing on your intuition and exploring new worlds; although the whole thing with not listening to your mom and being the dad's favorite isn't so cool. I like to focus on the princess being fearless, determined and "righting" her "wrong." This book is great for headstrong girls who often challenge their moms, as well as their moms (speaking from experience).
The Prince's Bedtime
Worth More Than The Crown On His Little Royal Head
Jun-25-20095 stars are just not enough for this book! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this book. Love the rhyms and illustrations but most of all LOVE the book for pointing out the folly of turning a "kingdom" upside down to help the "prince" or princess, as the case may be, go to sleep. We love to act it out while we're reading (or when I do story telling) because there are so many voices to the story. If you can only get one book, this one has to be it!
The Faerie's Gift
More Than A Gift
Jun-25-2009Yet another of our favorite books (mom's too). The illustrations are phenomenal and the message about the power of creative thinking for "little people" is perfect.
My Granny Went to Market
Best in any language...
Jun-25-2009One of my all time favorite books...ever! In our family we have "Granny" is several languages and so I love to improvise. This book is fabulous for storytelling as well because then I really go all out and say "Granny" in as many languages as I know (or have picked up for the occasion). I love to see the smiles on the childrens' faces when I hit their special "Granny" name. What a fun and light book. I also Love that Granny/grandma/Bubby/Savta/Uma/Nonna/Meme... is such a cool chic!
