Jul-19-2011This a wonderful addition to the Bear series and is now my new favorite Bear book. I love that Bear is at home with friends celebrating and playing simple but fun games like musical chairs and hide and seek. No need to have an expensive party at those party places. Also, the presents Bear receives are not gadgets or toys, but his favorite foods. And on the table there are healthy foods like strawberries. Besides presenting these values, there is a math lesson in counting backwards from ten. Did you notice that a balloon is being popped on each page? Who is popping them? Join the little boy in this book as he journeys through his farm collecting animal pets from the members of his family. This book is much more than a great sing along! It has many educational values. Your children will learn the names for the mother and the baby farm animals as well as the sounds they make. Teach your children to count by twos as the little boy adds a mommy and a baby animal to his collection of pets. Younger children will quickly learn colors by identifying them with each animal. For a cultural lesson, talk about the traditional Chilean clothes the family wears in the story. As the little boy visits each member of his family, you can share pictures of members of your own family. Discuss the cities where relatives live and the country where this tale originated and you have an instant geography lesson. Give everybody an animal sound to imitate and let the fun begin!

A handy story CD lets your little ones continue to enjoy this story when they chant "Again, again" and your voice has finally given out. This story is sure to become a bedtime favorite at your house.
