Kangaroos Have Joeys

Captivating
29 Jul 2009

Melodic and beautiful, I am thrilled by this latest lap book featuring art from Phillipa Alys-Browne. The mothers and babies from each species are so gingerly interconnected by the colors and positioning in her art. The verse gently carries reader through from one page to the next. Anyone looking for a parent-child connection can draw the parallel. Finally, the information at the back is useful as your child grows. Absolutely stunning as a gift or a snuggle up and share book. Highly recommended!

Shopping with Dad

So much fun!

Shopping with Dad is an entertaining tale of a little girl who joins her father on an adventure at the grocery store. You will quickly notice an adorable mouse as part of the illustration on each page and laugh out loud at Mum's silly shopping list! I love the theme of accountability where many people blame her father for the wrecked display and this young lady claims responsibility. The tone her father sets is sweet and focuses on the fact that accidents are just that ~ excellent book to share with little ones you love!

Secret Seahorse

Secret Seahorse - little one's favorite book
24 Jun 2009

I discovered the the magic of Secret Seahorse while working with toddlers who were eager to share with me their "reading" talents. The rhyming verse soothed them while the excitement of finding the hidden seahorse made everyone want to participate in my storytelling. Something about the art of Clare Beaton attracts the attention of little children. I share Barefoot Books with my community as an Ambassador and many parents tell me that Secret Seahorse is their baby's favorite book. Simply a wonderful endorsement!

Shakespeare's Storybook

Shakespeare's Storybook

This books is a family favorite. We listen to the cd in the car and have wonderful discussions about the elements of a great story ranging from vocabulary to character development. It's such a bonus that the entire family is engaged and entertained! When we see a Shakespeare production the next time, we will have another perspective, follow the plot more easily and enjoy his verse and the acting. Great book!
